Penthesilea Porn

(I was going to call this “Amazon Porn”, but would doubtless have been misunderstood.   Penthesilea was the virgin queen of the warrior-maidens known as the amazons.)

Strange things are afoot in Eastern Europe -- covertly sex-drenched, like the submurmurous machinations of the Islamic State.

This morning, the New York Times published the most pornographic portrait of a policewoman  you are ever likely to see (a Ukrainian, in the event):

At a very, very superficial level, American readers will be reminded of the present publicity about women in combat units of the US armed forces.  However, starkly at variance with  the scenarios in the MidEast and in Putinistan, the American (subconscious) narrative  is not that of virilized women, but rather  feminized men.

[Update 4 Jan 2016]  Although the P.C. countries of Europe  are proud of their policewomen, and feature them prominently in photos for the press,  they themselves sometimes need to be rescued:

Polizeidirektor Temmes Angaben zufolge waren "alle Einsatzkräfte, die wir zur Verfügung hatten", vor Ort. Doch die Beamten bemerkten anscheinend nichts von den sexuellen Übergriffen und Diebstählen. "Wir haben erst durch die Anzeigen davon erfahren",

"Das ist eine völlig neue Dimension der Gewalt. So etwas kennen wir bisher nicht", sagt der NRW-Landesvorsitzende der GdP, Arnold Plickert. "Ein Täter hat einer Zivilpolizistin in die Hose gefasst".
