They are by nature predators, top of the food-chain, cousins of lions.
They’re sleek, they slink, as though they own the veldt.
The glint of their unrevealing eyes has you in their cross-hairs.
Be afraid, be very afraid, an thou art a mouse.
Yet lo! what a falling-off there was!
Kittehs prowling round the kitchen,
harassed by doggehs, eating scrapmeat out of a tin,
their growl a mere meowww …..
